About

This one replaced a bowl setup that never really worked out, no filtration to speak of and the plants just melted... The 60P has been a different story, the vals and monte carlo actually hold on and the shrimp seem happier for it.

june update

Tank's looking close to how I pictured it back in december, just a little less dense in a couple spots still. The otocinclus spend most of the day parked on the glass or on a stone, barely move until the lights dim. The amano shrimp are bolder now, out in the open picking through the rotala instead of hiding like they used to.

Note

march check-in

Things are coming along nicely finally, the monte carlo has closed up most of the gaps and the rotala's gaining some height. Noticed the amano shrimp kept getting stuck poking around near the filter intake so I added a little pre-filter sponge over it... Simple fix but seems to have solved it, haven't seen anyone struggling near there since.

No CO2 but running rotala and monte carlo, are you dosing excel or just liquid ferts on a schedule.

Tank owner replied

That one's not mine, I think you've got me mixed up with another tank... My 29 gallon is java moss and val, no rotala or monte carlo here.

Otos and amano shrimp together is a nice low key combo. How long before you added the otos, they can be picky about a cycled tank.

Tank owner replied

Different tank than mine I think, I don't have otos with amanos... My celestial pearl danio tank has otos though, and I waited about a month before adding any fish.

That dragon stone is doing a lot of work, where's it from?

MMarcus ReedQuestion

That dragon stone is stacked well, otos looks happy grazing on it. Low maintenance like that is the dream honestly

Dragon stone scape is clean. Simple LED and no CO2 too, good to see it stay stable like that.

Leo Barnes profile photoLeo BarnesQuestion

That dragon stone stack looks solid, did you dry stack it first or just build straight in the tank?

Tank owner replied

Not sure, that's not my tank... My planted 29 gallon just has the one seiryu stone piece, no dragon stone stack here.
