Tank's looking close to how I pictured it back in december, just a little less dense in a couple spots still. The otocinclus spend most of the day parked on the glass or on a stone, barely move until the lights dim. The amano shrimp are bolder now, out in the open picking through the rotala instead of hiding like they used to.

march check-in
Things are coming along nicely finally, the monte carlo has closed up most of the gaps and the rotala's gaining some height. Noticed the amano shrimp kept getting stuck poking around near the filter intake so I added a little pre-filter sponge over it... Simple fix but seems to have solved it, haven't seen anyone struggling near there since.

first fish
Added the otocinclus today, 30 days after filling the tank so the cycle should be far enough along... Let the bag float on the surface about 20 minutes then added tank water in a few small doses before netting them in. They scattered into the dragon stone right away but I already spotted one grazing on the glass by the evening.

two weeks in
Still cycling, still no fish... Waiting.
Note
filled it up
Water's in and the filter's running... It's hazy right now, hoping that clears in a day or two. The monte carlo looks so small and patchy in there, hard to imagine it as a full carpet. Just want to skip ahead a few weeks honestly, but I know that's not how it works.

setup day
Got the dragon stone placed today, no water yet... Rearranged it probably six times before landing on something I didn't hate. Still not totally sold on it though, feels a little empty on one end and I keep wondering if I should've gone bigger with the pieces. Going to sleep on it before I fill the tank.
