Wanted an iwagumi, ended up with a jungle because I can't say no to plants at the store. Two seiryu stones basically vanished under Monte Carlo and hairgrass now. Fifteen apistos in a tank this small was probably a mistake but the chili rasboras don't seem to mind.

The harlequin rasboras are the ones I actually sit and watch, they school loose near the moss most evenings and never really stop moving. Chili rasboras stick lower, closer to the substrate, easy to miss unless you're looking for them. Blue rili shrimp have multiplied more than I expected, I keep finding tiny ones on the glass in the morning. Hardscape is old pond rock from my parents' place, been sitting in my garage for years before this cube gave it a job. Monte carlo filled in between the rocks after a slow start, java fern and moss holding steady on the wood. My kid still checks on the shrimp before school most days.
Planted Tanks (Aquascapes)
Just a planted community tank, tetras and rasbora weaving through rotala and a couple chunks of driftwood, shrimp cleaning up whatever's left.
Planted Tanks (Aquascapes)
Spiderwood scape built around chili rasboras, Notch included, plus pygmy corys.
Planted Tanks (Aquascapes)
the chili rasboras are the ones i actually sit and watch, darting through the vals and ducking near the buce every time i walk by. blue bolt shrimp are doing their own thing across the substrate, and the corys root around in front like they own the place. it's a 10g so things stay tight, but there's room enough that nobody's bothering the endlers. rotala's finally pushing new growth, ramshorns keep multiplying whether i want them to or not.

Funny thing about hardscape... You place it once and swear you'll never touch it again, then you do. Chili and harlequin rasboras school together, moss is filling out, shrimp doing shrimp things.
Planted Tanks (Aquascapes)
Upgraded from a little tank that never really worked out (bad shape, worse light, plants just melted). This one's got the twinstar and an inkbird keeping temp steady, so no more guessing. Chili rasboras dart around the christmas moss and the hygrophila pinnatifida finally took off after sulking for a while. Blue bolt shrimp and nerites handle cleanup duty. Amazon swords are filling out the back, anubias tucked on the driftwood.

replaced a dry scape i must have rearranged five times before i ever added water. same rock and wood, just finally wet and running now. chili rasboras are the main show, a loose little group weaving through the anubias and pausing near the moss whenever someone walks by. cherry shrimp have multiplied way past what i expected, picking through the stratum all day, and the nerites keep the glass in check better than i do. moss took a while to look like actual moss instead of thin strands stuck to wood, but it's thickened up nicely and the carpet is closing most of its bare patches. still a plain little scape at heart, but it feels lived in now. heater's new, everything else is original.

roommate named the shrimp before the tetras even showed up
Planted Tanks (Aquascapes)
chili rasboras run the show in here, hiding in the hairgrass like it's their job before one brave one finally comes out to snoop around. endlers and neons fill out the rest, shrimp just kinda vibing on the wendtii and bucephalandra, pretty low drama tbh
