pump swap
Put in a new Eheim Compact circulation pump today and of course the outlet I wanted to use was already full of other cords... Took way longer than it should've but flow looks good now, no more dead spots behind the rock.

Upgraded from a bare-bones first reef that never really had flow figured out... This one's got chromis darting around the rock and a couple chalice heads finally opening up nicely.

20% change today, siphoned some detritus off the sandbed and knocked the film off the glass... Rock's still bare-ish but at least it's clean bare rock now.

The chromis school looks great moving through that rock, do the goniopora ever get grumpy about the flow in there?
So far no complaints from the goniopora, it's got a nice slow sway going. I aimed the pump so it's more indirect flow on that side... If it ever looks like it's not opening up I'll rethink placement but knock on wood it's been fine.
clownfish looked really settled in there in the last pics. do the chromis school together or mostly do their own thing?
They mostly do their own thing tbh... Loose little group but not a tight school like you'd see in a bigger tank. Clowns have claimed a spot near the rock and just hang out there being smug about it.
curious what your alk is holding at with the goniopora in there, mine gets moody if it swings at all
