About

Sunset Haven got its name before there was even water in it — the stratum has this warm reddish cast under the Kessil that reminded me of one, and it stuck. Hairgrass has finally filled in up front, hygrophila needs trimming again already. Pygmy corys spend most of the day darting through the sword leaves. 29 gallons, though it feels smaller with the moss taking over the wood.

compared to a couple months ago

Pulled up the photo from right after the fish went in and it's a totally different tank now. Hairgrass has actually carpeted, no more bare patches. Hygrophila pinnatifida has that reddish tint coming through under the Kessil, wasn't expecting that so soon. Moss has covered most of the wood at this point, just a few bare spots left. Shrimp are everywhere now, way more visible than a month ago. Still a bit less dense than I want in the back corner but close.

Note

algae

Green dusting all over the sword leaves, dealing with it now.

AAva GrayQuestion

How do you stop the stratum from creeping into the sand areas? Mine always ends up a muddy mess along the border

MMarcus ReedQuestion

Hairgrass carpet looks solid in there. Dry start or did you just flood and let it fill in?

That bristlenose looks like he's claimed the whole tank as his own, mine hides constantly.

What's the feeding routine on this one, flake or frozen for the corys and pleco?

Tank owner replied

No flake or frozen right now, they're just grazing on biofilm/algae plus whatever sinks from feeding the shrimp. Once things settle in more I'll probably add sinking wafers for the pleco and maybe some frozen baby brine for the corys, but they seem fine for now.

Bristlenose with pygmy cories is such a good combo for a 29. Any babies showing up or are the corys just hanging out

Tank owner replied

No babies, just the corys hanging out and darting around together. Pleco hasn't shown any breeding behavior either. Honestly wasn't even trying for that, just wanted a cleanup crew combo.
