About

Went for a soft, mossy stream kind of feel with the seiryu stone and controsoil instead of anything too tidy. Cardinals and harlequins school loosely through the sword plants, crystal reds pick through the java moss most evenings. Nerites keep the glass pretty clean without much help from me.

update

Shrimp are out more than usual today, grazing all over the moss and up the glass. The guppies keep chasing each other around the sword plants and the cardinals mostly just hold in the current near the filter output. Rasboras schooling tight in the open space like always. Nerites doing their nerite thing on the stone, slow and steady.

Note

canister swap headache

Put the Fluval 307 in today to replace what I was running before and it was way more of a project than I expected. Had to redo the plumbing lines twice and siphon primed wrong the first try so water went everywhere near the stand. Running now though and flow looks good through the tank, just annoyed it took most of the afternoon.

That harlequin rasbora shoal looks nice and tight in there. How's the shrimp colony doing alongside them, any losses since adding the cardinals?

JJasmine TranQuestion

Looks like driftwood to me not manzanita, either way the rasboras and cardinals schooling through it must look great, how often are you trimming the sword

Tank owner replied

It's seiryu stone actually, not driftwood. And yeah the schooling looks pretty nice through it. Sword doesn't need much trimming yet, just pull the odd yellowing leaf off every so often.

controsoil in a 55g harlequin setup, how long did it take to stop clouding when you first filled it

Tank owner replied

Took maybe a day, day and a half before it cleared up enough to actually see through. Rinsed the filter media once during that stretch cause it looked pretty murky going in.

No algae on that sand is wild with rasboras and shrimp bioload. Crystal reds breeding in there too or just holding steady

Harlequins and cardinals mixed is a nice look... How's the Controsoil holding up after this long, still not blowing out on you?
