Shrimp are out more than usual today, grazing all over the moss and up the glass. The guppies keep chasing each other around the sword plants and the cardinals mostly just hold in the current near the filter output. Rasboras schooling tight in the open space like always. Nerites doing their nerite thing on the stone, slow and steady.

canister swap headache
Put the Fluval 307 in today to replace what I was running before and it was way more of a project than I expected. Had to redo the plumbing lines twice and siphon primed wrong the first try so water went everywhere near the stand. Running now though and flow looks good through the tank, just annoyed it took most of the afternoon.
Note
first fish
Added the harlequin rasboras today, first livestock in. Tried naming a couple of them based on markings but honestly they all look identical once they start schooling so that plan kinda fell apart fast. They seem happy enough, sticking together and exploring around the stone.
Note
two weeks in
Tested the water today, ammonia's dropping and I'm seeing a little nitrite now so cycle seems to actually be doing something. Water's clear at least, plants still small and kinda sparse but no algae yet which I'll take. No fish still, just watching numbers and topping off evaporation.

oops
Filled it up today, filter's running, water's still pretty hazy from everything settling. Went to grab a towel five minutes later and found a little puddle by the stand, turns out I didn't seat the canister hose right. Fixed it, nothing major, just a wet floor and a mini heart attack. Plants are in but tiny and sparse still, lots of bare substrate showing.

dry start
Stacked the seiryu stone today and my partner walked by and just went 'so it's just rocks in a fish tank now?' lol. No water yet, just the dry hardscape and bare controsoil sitting there. Bag of substrate still half open on the floor. Kinda funny how empty it looks compared to what it's supposed to be eventually.
