Philodendron Golden Saw is a mutation of the common saw-toothed Philodendron, with serrated leaves that emerge light orange and slowly morph to bright green, often showing multiple tones at once. A relatively hardy, adaptable houseplant for containers, hanging baskets, or mixed displays; it prefers a well-aerated moisture-retentive medium with increased humidity.

Care guide
Overview
Golden Saw is a mutation of the common saw-toothed philodendron, grown for serrated leaves that unfurl light orange before shifting to green, often showing both tones together. It adapts to pots, hanging baskets, or mixed plantings with modest fuss. A moisture-retentive, well-aerated mix and raised humidity keep new growth colorful.
Care
This variegated hybrid climbs readily once given a moss pole or similar support, and its leaf shape shifts from simple spear forms in juvenile growth to deeply lobed, indented blades as the plant matures. Bright but indirect light brings out the strongest cream and yellow marbling, while low light tends to produce plainer green growth. A loose, well-draining aroid mix kept lightly moist and elevated humidity around 60% or higher keep the plant looking its best, and it tolerates typical indoor temperatures without much fuss.
Planting & trimming
Pot in an airy, chunky aroid mix of bark, perlite, and coco coir or sphagnum moss to ensure fast drainage while retaining some moisture, and provide a moss pole or trellis early so the climbing stems can attach with aerial roots. As a hemiepiphyte it can also be mounted on wood or bark in a terrarium setting with humidity kept high. Repot every two to three years or when roots fill the container.
Fertilizing
Feed with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer every four to six weeks during spring and summer growth, cutting back or stopping in fall and winter. Nitrogen-rich formulas support vigorous vining growth, while occasional micronutrient supplementation helps prevent pale or washed-out new leaves. Watch for weak, undersized foliage or loss of variegation as a sign of insufficient light or nutrients rather than a fertilizer deficiency alone.
Propagation
Propagate by stem cuttings that include at least one node and ideally an aerial root, rooting them in water, moist sphagnum, or directly in an aroid mix. New cuttings benefit from high humidity and warmth to encourage root development before being potted on. Rooting typically takes a few weeks under stable, warm conditions.
Problems
Overwatering and poorly draining media are the main causes of root rot, so the surface should be allowed to dry somewhat between waterings. Leaves that revert to solid green usually indicate insufficient light, and scorched or bleached patches point to direct sun exposure. Fungal leaf spot can appear in overly wet, stagnant conditions, so airflow around the foliage helps prevent it.
