new light
Swapped the light out for the Kessil A360X today and it was more of a hassle than I thought it'd be, mounting arm didn't want to clamp right on the rim at first. Worth it though, the color on the peacock looks so much better under it now.

Rock caves and spiderwood leaning just right, going for that African rift lake look without it feeling too stiff or symmetrical. The Johanni and peacock have completely taken over the space now, chasing each other through the caves all day. Running the AquaClear 70 to keep up with them, and the Kessil A360X really brings out the peacock's color. Still tweaking little things here and there.

Did my first real water change on this tank today and it took way longer than expected, mostly because I kept stopping to watch the fish dart around the rocks. Gravel vac took forever with the sand, had to be careful not to suck it all up.

How long has this second scape been running with the johanni and peacocks in there
johanni are absolute terrors, how's the peacock holding up sharing space with it?
How do you keep the johanni from tearing into the peacocks, mine get so worked up over rockwork spots
Honestly it's early days for me too, only had them in together a short while. So far the caves give them enough separate spots to claim that they haven't clashed much, but I'm watching it closely since I know that can change fast.
Spiderwood in a cichlid tank with johanni is a bold combo, curious if they've shredded it at all yet.
No chew marks yet that I've noticed, he mostly just patrols around it and claims it as his spot. Maybe that'll change once the peacock gets bigger and starts pushing back.
is that spiderwood actually raising your GH at all or just decor at this point?
Honestly not sure it's doing much at this point, I haven't tested GH specifically. I mostly added it for the caves and the look, treating it as decor more than anything functional.
