About

I rushed the first hardscape and it looked cluttered no matter how I turned the spiderwood... Pulled it all and started over with fewer pieces, which is the version that stuck. Apistogramma pair up in the sword leaves now and the embers stay mid tank, ignoring most of it.

july update

Just wanted to post an update, no real news... The tank's grown in a lot since those early sparse photos and honestly I'm happy just looking at it most evenings. The ember tetras school together nicely now and the apistos pair seems settled. Plants need a trim soon but otherwise not much to change.

Note

may

Quiet week, not much to report... Noticed one of the apistos has been hanging out in the same corner near the wood most days, seems to have claimed it as a little territory. Everything else about the same.

What schedule you running on the solar rgb, curious what par you're getting to the stratum for the apistos

Tank owner replied

Think you've got me confused with someone else's tank, I don't run apistos or that light... My setup is just the Chihiros over the 29 gallon with danios and corys.

Apistos are so underrated, love the color on them. What CO2 bps you running with the stratum?

Apistos look settled in nicely on that stratum. The scape reads pretty deep for 40 gallons, did you build up the substrate in the back much?

Isaac O'Brien profile photoIsaac O'BrienQuestion

Did you fight any algae getting the pinnatifida established, or did it stay clean since it's a second scape?

what do you feed the apistos, mine ignore flake completely

Tank owner replied

That's not my tank, no apistos here... I've just got celestial pearl danios and pygmy corys in mine.
