Note

corys being corys

The corys spend most of the day rooting around in the substrate together, barely ever split up. Guppies are doing their normal guppy thing chasing each other around the hairgrass. Shrimp mostly hang out near the stone and the ramshorns just show up wherever they want. Tank's filled in a lot since those early bare patches, nice just watching everyone go about their day now.

Note

guppies are in

Added the first guppies today, bag sitting at the surface for a bit before I let them out. Already naming them in my head, there's a orange one I'm calling Cheeto and a little pale one that keeps hiding by the stone. Only a handful right now so the tank still looks kind of empty around them but everyone's swimming around fine so far.

Note

diatoms and doing nothing

Two weeks in and I dosed a bit of bottled bacteria just to help things along, also been ghost feeding a pinch every couple days to give the cycle something to chew on. Plants are still tiny, lots of bare substrate between the hairgrass clumps. Water's clear at least, just waiting on the numbers to settle before anything goes in.

Note

filled up, filter running

Got water in and the canister going today, still cloudy from the fill so nothing to look at yet. Set the heater around 76 since that seemed like a safe middle ground for guppies and corys down the road. No fish in yet, just letting it run and keeping an eye on the temp to make sure it holds steady overnight.

Note

the seiryu stone finally showed up

So the stone I ordered for this took forever to get here, ended up grabbing a mixed box of seiryu stone from a local guy who does landscaping rock on the side since I got tired of waiting on the online order. Spent a while dry stacking it before I was happy with the layout, nothing in the water yet, just getting the placement right before I commit to anything.
