Wanted that rift lake look, rock everywhere, barely any open sand to swim through. Went with a Waterbox Clear Mini 25 and stacked caves until it felt right, sand went in after. Demasoni and electric blue johanni chase around the piles most of the day, yellow labs kinda hang near the entrances. Someone said it looked lived-in, which felt about right.

Had a friend over and they said the caves looked like they'd always been there, which felt kinda nice to hear since it took forever to get the stack right. Fish are basically full size now and the rock's got that lived-in look finally.

Added the yellow labs today, first livestock in the tank. They went straight for the caves and kinda hovered near the rock instead of swimming out in the open, which I guess is normal for day one. One of them was already flashing a bit of color by the evening though.
Demasoni plus johanni in a 29 sounds spicy, what are your ammonia and nitrates reading lately?
Tank owner replied
Ammonia's been sitting at 0 for a bit now, nitrates creep up to like 20 before I do a WC. Tank's still pretty young so I'm keeping an eye on it, testing a couple times a week just to be safe.
Demasoni are so extra with the attitude, how many are in there before it turns into a bloodbath
Tank owner replied
Just got the one demasoni in there right now, not doing a full colony in a 29. Figured with the johanni and labs already in the mix one was plenty to keep the peace, or attempt to lol.
How often are you rescaping rockwork with the demasoni in there? Seems like they'd bulldoze sand around constantly
Tank owner replied
Honestly haven't done a real rescape since I set it up, they do shove sand around the base of the caves but the rock stack itself hasn't budged. Might have to level the sand out at some point though.
