Note

the hygrophila took off

Pinnatifida has honestly gone nuts the last month or two, way bushier than I expected and throwing out those reddish leaves under the light. Rest of the tank's looking close to how I pictured it, sword's finally got some size to it too. Shrimp are all over the moss these days.

Note

small tweak

Things are filling in, carpet's mostly closed up now with just a couple gaps left. Moved the anubias off a bare spot of driftwood to a shadier corner since it was bleaching a bit under the twinstar, seems happier already.

Note

algae phase

Getting some hair algae and green spot on the glass and a few leaves right now. Trying a few things at once (probably a mistake, won't know what actually worked): cut back the photoperiod a bit on the twinstar, added more nerites, and dosing prime a little heavier on water change days. Moss is thickening up nicely at least despite the algae.

Note

water change + quick check

Did a water change today, plants still pretty short and the carpet's got gaps everywhere so nothing to look at yet really. Tested params after: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate around 10ppm. Hose is still hanging out of the tank in the photo mid-change lol. Temp holding steady at 78f thanks to the inkbird.

Note

first fish

Added the chili rasboras today.

Note

cycling, week 2

Still just cycling, no fish. Been ghost feeding a small pinch every couple days to keep something going for the bacteria to eat, also dosed some bottled bacteria at start to try and speed things along. No idea yet if it's actually helping or if I'm just wasting fish food into an empty tank lol.

Note

filling her up

Got the water in and the filter running today. Dosed prime for dechlorinator (using the recommended dose for 55g, maybe a touch over just to be safe) and let it run to mix in before checking temp. No livestock yet, just waiting on this to settle before anything goes in.

Note

hardscape day

Driftwood's in, no water yet.
