Swapped in the Eheim compact circulation pump this week and it was way more of a pain than it should have been, had to redo the mounting bracket twice because it kept slipping on the glass. Flow feels a lot better now though, corals are swaying more than they were with just the canister return. Worth the hassle but man did it test me for an afternoon

update
Work has been eating my whole week so the tank basically just ran itself, quick top off and a glance at the corals and thats about it. Nothing new to report, everybody looks fine and the anthias are still doing their thing at feeding time. Some weeks are just like that I guess

Had someone over this weekend who hadnt seen the tank since the rock was bare and dry, they stood there for a minute and just said it actually looks like a real reef now. Corals are still small and theres bare rock showing in spots but the coralline is starting to spread on some of the rock which I didnt expect this soon. Felt good hearing that from someone who isnt just me looking at it every day

Algae outbreak is testing my nerves big time right now

first fish!
Added the firefish goby today, first livestock in the tank. He shot straight into a hole in the rock and I didnt see him again for like 20 minutes, then he poked his head out just enough to watch me watch him. Trying to land on a name, keep going back and forth between Elvis for the fin and just calling him Fry. Anyone got a better one?

update
Two weeks into cycling now, water's clear and rock has that light dusting of diatoms on it. Tested ammonia and nitrite tonight, ammonia is dropping finally and nitrite ticked up a bit which I think means its actually working. No fish yet, just watching the numbers every couple days like its going to change if I stare hard enough

filled her tonight
Filled the tank up tonight and had a mini heart attack when I saw water creeping across the floor by one corner, turned out it was just splash from the hose and not a leak thank god. Eheim canister is primed and running, no fish or coral in yet just watching it circulate. Checked under the stand like five times before I let myself relax

setup day
Got the stand leveled today before anything else, used a torpedo level on like four different spots because I read a 120 will punish you fast if its off even a little. Rock is all dry placed for now, went with a more open layout again so there's room for the tang to actually swim later. No water yet, sand still bagged up on the floor. Bigger tank than my nano so this already feels like a whole different project
