The vallisneria has gotten out of hand in the best way, throwing runners all over the back and starting to reach the surface. Had to trim some just so it wasn't shading everything else out. Rest of the tank is looking close to how I want it, hairgrass is dense now and the moss finally looks like moss instead of thin green fuzz on wood.

week 16
Nothing to report really, just sat and watched the embers school through the vals for a while tonight. That's the whole update.

week 12
Pulled up the day 14 photo next to today and it's almost a different tank. The hairgrass was basically bare patches with some green fuzz back then, now it's an actual carpet with only a couple thin spots left. Moss has filled out too. Still get surprised how fast this stuff moves once it takes.

week 9
Green spot and some hair algae creeping onto the glass and a couple leaves, so I cut the photoperiod back and did a partial blackout for a couple days. Carpet's mostly filled in with a few gaps still, moss thickening up nicely. Hoping less light time knocks the algae back without stalling the carpet.

day 30
First embers went in today.
Note
day 14
Cycling along, some kind of dusty film starting on the glass and a bit on the hairgrass clumps. Water's still clear though. Plants look pretty sad and sparse right now, lots of bare substrate between the monte carlo clumps. Hoping that clears up before I even think about fish.

day 3
Water's in, filter's humming, nothing alive yet.

day 0
Got the driftwood placed and stared at it for way too long before deciding I hated the layout, moved it three times. Showed my partner and got a shrug and a "looks like sticks" which is fair. No water yet, just wood and substrate sitting there.
