Note

day 62

Noticed some hair algae and green spot showing up on the glass and rock this week, plus brown diatoms on the sand. Think it's probably from overfeeding when I was ghost feeding early on, or maybe the lights are on too long. Not sure yet - going to cut back the photoperiod a bit and see if it helps.

Note

week 4 - new additions

Added my first fish today - a yellow watchman goby. Bag floated at the surface for a while before I let him out. Been trying to decide on a name, thinking something simple. Corals are still small but coralline is starting to show up on the rock which felt like a nice thing to see.

Note

day 14

Two weeks into cycling now - added some bottled bacteria and I've been ghost feeding a tiny pinch every couple days to keep something for the bacteria to work on. No fish yet, just testing water and waiting on the ammonia to actually process. Hard to tell if anything is happening in there.

Note

day 3

Filled her- I mean, filled the tank with water today and got the filter running. Set the fluval heater to 78f and just letting it stabilize. Nothing living in there yet, just watching the temp settle and checking it doesn't drift.

Note

day 0

Spent the afternoon rinsing sand and rock before anything went in the tank - the water ran cloudy way longer than I expected. Rock is dry stacked for now, no water yet, just trying to get a layout I like before I commit to it. 10g feels tiny with the rock in it.
