swapped in the Kessil A360X fully now as my main light and first impressions are good, way more control over intensity than what i had before. plants seem to be responding already, growth looks a little more upright. still dialing in the settings so it's not blasting the tank.
Note
quiet week
nothing much to report, just routine maintenance.
Note
apisto digging
my male apisto has claimed a spot near the dragon stone and keeps rearranging little bits of substrate like he owns the place. chases the tetras off if they get too close. plants and moss are filling in more each week which helps give everyone more room to avoid him.

Note
algae phase
got some hair algae and green spot showing up on the leaves and glass, not terrible but noticeable. cut the Kessil A360X photoperiod down and did a blackout for a couple days to try to knock it back. hoping it's just part of the tank settling in and not something ongoing.

Note
first fish in
added the first cardinal tetras today, bag was floating at the top acclimating before i let them go. tank still looks pretty sparse, moss is thin and the carpet has gaps everywhere, but having actual fish swim through it changes the whole vibe. feels like a real tank now instead of just rocks and plants.

cycling notes
someone at the fish store told me not to trust the little strips, said liquid test kit is worth it if i'm patient. also said dragon stone can raise hardness a bit which explains my readings being higher than i expected. still waiting it out, no fish yet.
Note
topped it off
water's in, filter's running, nothing alive yet.
Note
hardscape day
picked up the dragon stone (ohko) from my local fish store, they had a whole bin of it and I just kept digging until i found pieces that stacked right. no water in yet, just dry fitting the rock for now. took longer than i thought to get it to not look like a pile.
