Added the celestial pearl danios today, small group of them. Work's been a lot lately so it was nice to just sit and watch them for a bit after releasing them - they hung near the driftwood for the first while then slowly started exploring the open water. Tank feels alive now even with the plants still pretty sparse.
Two weeks in and the hardscape still looks kind of stark, moss hasn't really grabbed onto the wood yet and there's a lot of bare substrate showing between the plant clumps. Water's gone completely clear at least. No fish yet, just watching and waiting on the cycle to finish before I add anything to it.
Got water in and the filter running today. Dosed dechlorinator and let it cycle through before doing anything else, water's pretty hazy from the substrate settling still. Moss and the sword are in but everything looks tiny and scattered right now, lots of bare space between the plants. No livestock yet, just letting it run.
Spent way more time than I care to admit just moving the seiryu stone a few inches at a time, propping the driftwood against it, stepping back, moving it again. No water in yet. Still not sold on the layout, feels like it needs one more small stone but I also don't want to overcrowd a 5 gallon. Might just leave it and see how it looks once it's planted.
