About

Mosswood Hollow got its name from the two spiderwood pieces tangled together in the back, mossy looking even before anything grew on them. Amazonia underneath, Monte Carlo carpeted in front of that now instead of separate clumps. Chihiros WRGB II 60 runs about 7 hours a day. White Clouds school tighter than I expected, 10 of them, and the shrimp count keeps climbing past what I actually put in there originally. Nerites handle the glass so I barely touch it. Temp sits at 74F, hasn't moved in months.

carpet check

170 days in now and the Monte Carlo has taken over almost the entire foreground, way past where I originally planted it. Had to trim it back from creeping up the spiderwood last week. Anubias nana is doing fine too but the carpet growth is what's stood out the most the last month or so, went from patchy clumps to a solid mat pretty fast once it got going.

Note

quiet week

Not much going on, just noticed one of the nerites has been parked on the same piece of spiderwood for like 3 days straight. Rest of the tank ticking along, water params normal, nothing to report really.

did the diatom phase hit before or after the CO2 went in... mine dragged on forever

Spiderwood is giving off some nice tannins there. Love it with the white clouds, pretty relaxed looking tank.

Tank owner replied

Yeah the spiderwood tints the water a bit between water changes, not full tea colored but you can tell. White clouds ended up being a good call for it, they look calm against the wood.

RReese ColemanQuestion

Any of the green jade shrimp berried yet? Tank looks settled in nicely for a co2 setup.

Tank owner replied

No co2 here actually, just light and ferts here and there. No berried shrimp yet that I've seen, they're still pretty small and mostly hide in the Monte Carlo. Maybe soon though.

Diffuser question - inline or just tucked in the tank somewhere?

Tank owner replied

No co2 on this one, just Monte Carlo growing under the WRGB II with decent light and ADA Amazonia. It'll carpet slower without it but I didn't want to deal with a diffuser in a 10 gallon.
