Swapped in the eheim jager, old heater was cycling on and off like it had commitment issues... Temp's holding rock steady now. Small upgrade but already less annoyed opening the stand door.

The amano has decided the pinnatifida is personal property and chases off... Nothing, since it's the only inhabitant, but it patrols like there's a threat. Plants are filling the gaps nicely though, carpet's almost solid.

Green spot showing up on the glass and a bit of hair algae creeping on the crypt leaves... Pretty sure it's the light schedule, I bumped the RGB duration up too fast once I saw new growth. Dialing it back down this week, not panicking yet.

Added the amano today, bag bobbing in the corner while it got used to the water... Plants are still short and there's bare substrate everywhere but having something actually moving in there changes the whole vibe. Tiny tank feels like a real tank now.

two weeks in
Ammonia and nitrite both reading where I want them, nitrates climbing... Cycle's doing its normal thing. Water's glass clear which almost makes it worse, staring into an empty 5g waiting for numbers to move is a special kind of waiting-around test.

filled it up
Filter's running, tank's full... And there's a suspicious puddle by the stand that definitely wasn't there before. Found it, tightened a fitting, floor survived. Small heart attack included at no extra charge.

No water yet, just rock and substrate bag sitting there... My partner walked by and asked if I 'gave up already' lol. Rude but fair, it does look like nothing right now.
