had someone message me saying it actually looks like a proper aquascape now rather than sticks in a box, which made me laugh cos that's exactly what i was worried about at setup. moss has filled out on the wood nicely and the wendtii's bushed up a bit. still a touch sparse in one corner but getting there.

algae mess
hit a rough patch with algae, some green dust and a bit of hair algae creeping on the spiderwood. cut the photoperiod right down and did a proper blackout for a couple days, also dialled the light intensity back a notch after. seems to be settling, wood's looking a bit cleaner now but i'm keeping an eye on it.
Note
first fish
added the endlers today. floated them in the bag for about 20 min then mixed in some tank water gradually before releasing, no dramas. tiny tank feels less like an empty scape now with them zipping about the wood.
Note
cycle check
two weeks in, tested params today. ammonia's dropping, nitrites still showing but nitrates are climbing so it's doing what it should. plants are in but tiny still, wendtii barely settled and moss looking thin and stringy, loads of bare substrate on show. just letting the bacteria catch up before i add anything living.

Note
oops
got her filled up and the filter going, and of course i managed to knock the hose loose topping it off so had a decent puddle on the floor before i noticed. nothing damaged just a wet towel situation. tank itself is fine, just running clear now with no fish in yet, dosed prime since it's tap water.
Note
dry start
spiderwood's in, no water yet. picked this piece up ages ago and it's been sat in a box waiting for a tank to fit it, finally found the right spot for it after moving it round for a good hour. bag of substrate still unopened next to it, going in properly tomorrow. wanted to get the layout sorted dry before flooding so i'm not fighting the wood underwater.
