Not much to report, work's been eating all my time so tank maintenance was basically just feeding and a quick top off. Shrimp seem fine, saw a couple crystal reds out on the driftwood grazing. Water params I haven't even checked in over a week honestly.
Note
week 12
Hairgrass finally spreading, monte carlo catching up.
Note
algae, day 62
Green spot algae showing up on the driftwood and a bit on the sword leaves. Pretty sure it's the AI prime running too many hours, I had it around 8 which is probably excessive for how sparse the carpet still is. Dialed it back to 6 hours and upped co2... Actually no co2 on this one, just cut the photoperiod and will see how it looks in a week.
Note
day 30
Added the first fish today, small group of neon tetras. Tank feels completely different with something actually moving through it, been staring at empty water for a month so this is a nice change. Ammonia and nitrite both 0, nitrate at 10ppm, figured it was safe to stock lightly.
Note
week 2
Water's clear now at least. Carpet plants still look rough, just little clumps here and there and you can see basically all the substrate between them. Not melting exactly but not doing much either. Giving it time before I worry, driftwood's leaching a bit of tannin but nothing crazy.

Water's in, canister's running. Dosed prime for the whole 40 gallons, gave it a couple min before hooking the filter back up. Water's a bit hazy from the substrate settling, should clear in a day or two. Planted the sword, hairgrass and monte carlo sparse for now, lots of bare spots still.

Hardscape's in, no water yet. Spiderwood came from a local shop, picked through a bin for like 20 min to find pieces that'd fit together without wiring anything. Malaysian driftwood I already had from a while back, been soaking it in a tub for weeks so it sinks right. Substrate's down, just looking over the layout deciding if I like it (I think I do).
