Did a water change and trimmed back the sword leaves that were shading everything out. Managed to knock half a bucket of tank water onto the floor mid-change, wife was not thrilled. Shrimp were all over the trimmings within minutes.

Added the first otocinclus today, picked them up after checking three different LFS tanks for healthy looking stock. Bag's floating right now to equalize temp before I let them out. Plants have filled in a good amount since setup, still gaps in the carpet area but it's getting there.

2 weeks into the cycle now. Been ghost feeding a bit and dosed some bottled bacteria to speed things along, prime for the chlorine. Plants are still small and sparse, lots of bare amazonia showing between clumps but no algae issues so far which I'll take.

Filled it up and got the sponge filters running. Water's clear, nothing living in there yet, just cycling. Hardest part of this whole hobby is the waiting, kid keeps asking why there's no fish in the fish tank yet.

Dry scape is in. Spiderwood came from a local guy selling off pieces from his own tank breakdown, picked through a bunch of them for the right branch angles. Amazonia is down, bag's still sitting next to the stand for topping off later. No water yet, just staging everything before I fill it.
