Just took a look at it tonight and honestly pretty happy with how this one turned out. Fish are active, colors are showing well, no drama in the tank right now.

Demasoni are the whole point of this one, feisty little guys packed in with acei and peacocks who mostly ignore them.

Had a friend over and he said it actually looks like a real cichlid tank now instead of just rocks in water. Rocks have some light algae going on, fish are growing in slowly.

Demasoni holding color like that with just sand and rock... No co2 needed for a look this good. Nice scape for round two
How do you keep the demasoni from tearing each other apart with only that rockwork? Mine turn the sand grey in a week.
Honestly not totally sure why mine haven't wrecked the sand yet, I've got a lot of caves stacked so there's always somewhere to hide. Probably just luck at this point tbh
Demasoni tank, nice. Mine's planted so no real algae battles with rockwork like that, but curious if the acei and peacocks all get along ok with demasoni being demasoni
So far so good, acei mostly ignore everyone and the peacocks just kind of stay out of the way. Demasoni chase each other way more than they bother the others.
How long's this scape been running - demasoni still holding their color well for it
About 6 weeks since I added water, fish went in around 30 days after that. Color's held up fine so far, they're still pretty small though.
How territorial are the demasoni in a 55? Thinking about doing mbuna someday
Demasoni are pretty rough honestly, they're the reason I went with a ton of rockwork and caves. Lots of chasing between them but nobody's died yet. 55g works but I'd say it's kind of the minimum for a demasoni colony, wouldn't go smaller.
