Old heater was one of those cheap ones with no visible temp dial and it drove me crazy never knowing exactly what it was set to, plus it had drifted a couple degrees off at some point without me noticing. Put in an Eheim Jager 100W today, box is still sitting on the floor since I haven't broken it down yet. Tank's looking pretty full now, carpet has finally spread in and the sword has some size to it.

quiet week
Not much going on, just sat and watched the embers school around the dragon stone for way longer than I meant to. Shrimp are out and about picking at stuff, everyone looks healthy. Nothing to report really, just an easy week.
Note
lfs run
Made a trip out just to grab the first fish and came home with a small group of ember tetras. Tested water before I left the house and again when I got back just to be safe, all looked fine so they went in. Tiny orange dots darting around a mostly empty tank, feels like a real start now.
Note
two weeks in
Ghost feeding a tiny pinch every couple days to keep the cycle fed since there's nothing in there to produce ammonia yet. Dosed some bottled bacteria at setup too so hoping that speeds things along. Water's clear at least, plants haven't grown much but they're not melting either which I'll take.

filled it up
Water's in, filter's running, and it's cloudy like I expected but I still keep walking by and squinting at it. Plants look tiny and sad right now, more sand showing than anything green, monte carlo is just a few little clumps scattered around. No fish yet, just gotta let it do its thing for a few weeks.

leveling day
So before any water goes in I spent a good chunk of time with a level on top of the stand, floor in that corner of the desk is not as flat as I thought. Shimmed one leg with a bit of cardboard until it read dead level, better to deal with it now than after 29 gallons are sitting on it. Dragon stone is placed dry, happy with the layout for now.
