The shrimp have gotten so much bolder lately, they're out grazing on the moss constantly now instead of hiding when I walk by. Otocinclus mostly stay on the glass in the mornings. Tank's looking full these days, still learning what it needs but it feels more stable than it used to.
Not much to report... Work's been busy so it's just been quick glances and topping off water when I remember. No major issues at least, just haven't had the energy to do anything beyond the basics.
Carpet's finally closing up the gaps.
Noticed hair algae creeping over a few leaves and some green spot on the glass this week... Did a blackout for a couple days to try to knock it back. Felt weird covering the tank up, kept peeking under the towel to check on things. Cut back the light schedule a bit after too, hoping that helps going forward.
Added the otocinclus today.
Still cycling, no fish yet. Been dosing some bottled bacteria to try to speed things along... Not sure how much it's actually helping honestly. Thought about ghost feeding a little to give the bacteria something to work with, did a small pinch yesterday. Just waiting and testing at this point.
Filled it today and got the filter running... It's louder than I expected, some gurgling from the outlet. Hoping that settles once it's fully primed. Water's hazy from the substrate, plants look tiny and sparse right now, kind of hard to picture it filling in eventually.
Hardscape is in... No water yet. Keep looking at it from different angles and second guessing the placement. Moved one piece three times already. Might just leave it and see how it looks once the water's in, hard to judge dry.
