Swapped the heater out for the Fluval E200, more out of wanting the extra control than the old one failing. Getting it positioned without disturbing the substrate too much was annoying, ended up draining a bit more water than I meant to just to get my arm in there comfortably. Temp's holding steady now, just watching it for a few days to make sure it's actually reading right.
Note
someone noticed
Had a friend over who doesn't keep fish at all and she stood in front of this tank for a solid few minutes before asking what kind of moss that was on the stone. Felt like a decent compliment considering how sparse this thing looked a couple months ago. Still gaps in the carpet area but it's clearly filling out, minnows seem happy weaving through the vallisneria too.

Note
some algae showing up
Noticing green spot on the glass and a bit of hair algae creeping onto a few of the older sword leaves. Pretty sure it's from me bumping the photoperiod up a little too early before the plants were dense enough to use the extra light. Pulled the worst leaves and did a bigger water change than usual, dialing the lights back down for now. Rock still has some bare patches so it's not exactly hiding it either.

Note
trim and change
Did a water change and cleaned up the vallisneria which had a few leaves going yellow and trailing across the surface, pulled those off. Sword is throwing new leaves steadily so left that alone. Moss still pretty thin on the stone but no complaints there, just needs time. Topped off with prime like usual after the change.
Note
lfs run
Made a trip to the local shop today mostly just to look around and ended up leaving with a small group of ember tetras. Wasn't planning on buying anything but the guy there had a nice looking tank of them and I caved. Got them acclimated and in, they went straight into the moss and stayed there for a good while before venturing out into the open water. First fish in this tank, feels like it actually started now.
Note
still cycling
Two weeks in, no fish yet, just watching and waiting at this point.
Note
filled it up, floor did not stay dry
Got the water in and the filter running today. Underestimated how much water was still in the hose when I disconnected it and ended up with a decent puddle on the floor, had a mild panic checking for an actual leak before realizing it was just me being careless. Tank itself looks hazy from the substrate getting stirred up, should clear in a day or two. Plants are all freshly in, pretty sparse looking right now with a lot of bare Amazonia showing between them.

getting the stand level
Spent longer than planned just getting the stand level before anything else happened. Floor in this room isn't flat at all, ended up shimming one corner with a bit of scrap wood. Once that was sorted I placed the seiryu stone dry, tried a couple different stacks before settling on one with a decent gap of open substrate up front. No water yet, just looking over the dry layout for now honestly, my kid says it looks like little mountains.
