The Whitespotted Boxfish is sexually dimorphic: males have a vibrant blue body with a black cap, speckled dots, and an orange tail stripe, while females are entirely black with white dots. It is very difficult to keep, needing expert care, a minimum 680-liter tank, and releases lethal ostracitoxin when stressed; use caution in reef tanks as it nibbles tubeworms, and feed live brine shrimp initially then squid, clams, mussels, and herbivore preparations.
