The True Shepard's Angelfish (Centropyge shepardi), also known as the Mango Angelfish, is a dwarf angelfish from coral reefs in remote areas of the Western Pacific such as the Mariana Islands, Ogasawara, and occasionally the Izu Islands of Japan; predominantly orange and yellow with only a thin perimeter of the back, dorsal, and anal fins in contrasting purple to blue and bold vertical bars in matching blue on the upper half of the body. It is hardy and a good eater that usually will not bother corals as long as it is properly fed with plenty of live rock to graze on; it can grow to 4 inches or more, so an established 70-gallon or larger aquarium with generous live rock and open swimming space is recommended — feed enriched frozen brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, spirulina, and other quality marine angelfish diets.
