Thompson's Surgeonfish (Acanthurus thompsoni) is one of the rarest surgeonfish in the aquarium trade, with an elegant dark brown-to-purplish body accented by soft yellow on the fins and tail. In the wild it schools over outer reef slopes feeding on zooplankton, and in aquariums it needs a minimum 475-liter tank with strong water movement and open swimming space, moderate care, and a varied omnivorous diet.
