The female Stocky Anthias is slightly broader and shorter in build, while males show an orange back, yellow lines, and a cream-colored underside. It is hermaphroditic — if a dominant male perishes, the largest female will often morph to take its place; keep it with its own species in at least a 473-liter tank with several hiding places, and once acclimated feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and flake foods in small quantities throughout the day.
