The Squareback Anthias is also known as the Squarespot, Purple Blotch Basslet, Squareblock, Square, or Mirror Anthias; females are predominantly yellow with a lavender belly and a thin blue line from nose to pectoral fin, while males are predominantly pink with a lighter rectangular shape on the side. It does best with low, indirect lighting or its brilliant colors fade, stays at mid-tank level, needs a 379-liter tank for one fish or a 681-liter tank for a group; feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and flake foods in small quantities throughout the day.
