The Six Bar Angelfish, also called the Sixbanded or Six Striped Angelfish, has a primarily pale-tan adult body with five nearly evenly-spaced dark brown stripes plus a white sixth stripe just behind the eye, dark blue polka-dots covering the body, and vibrant sapphire-blue dots on the caudal fin and back of the anal fin. It is known to grunt in warning when approached; it is a large fish requiring a 220 gallon or larger tank with many hiding places and large amounts of live rock; it is not a good reef dweller, prone to nip at corals and clam mantles; feed Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items at least three times daily.
