The Red-Bar Anthias, also known as Cooper's Anthias, has a wide Indo-Pacific range; males have a light pink body with a vertical red bar in the mid-section, females are more orange with a silvery belly and red tail, and both sport light blue edging around most fins. It grows to about 4 inches, stays in the middle levels of the tank, and requires plenty of caves, ledges, and hiding places; a 265-liter tank suits one fish, and a 473-liter or larger tank is needed for a group of one male and several females; feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and flake foods in small quantities throughout the day.
