The Queen Purple or Purple Queen Anthias, also known as the Amethyst or Sailfin Anthias, is predominantly bright purple accentuated by an orange band extending from the tip of the nose to the base of the pectoral fin. It swims in the middle of the tank and appreciates plenty of caves and hiding places; a group of one male with several females needs a 70 gallon aquarium; it is a difficult specimen to keep and is designated Expert Only, requiring constant live foods or a varied diet of mysid shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, frozen preparations, and other meaty items at least 4 times a day.
