The Pinnatus Batfish, also called the Red-Stripe or Pinnate Batfish, can reach 20 inches; juveniles show a striking red border on body and fins that fades with adulthood, with alternating vertical brown and silver-tan bands. It is very difficult to maintain and often refuses to eat; keep it in a deep minimum 758-liter tank with unobstructed swimming room and hiding places, feed meaty foods and herbivore preparations three times daily, and note it is not reef safe since it eats corals and anemones and is susceptible to ich.
