The French Angelfish is one of the more popular angelfish varieties; the face is pale dusky-blue with yellow and white-rimmed eyes, and the dark dusky-blue body has yellow scale margins giving a dappled appearance, with a yellow smudge on the pectoral fin and a yellow-rimmed gill cover. It requires a 250 gallon or larger tank with large amounts of live rock for hiding and grazing; it is not a good reef candidate, prone to nip at sessile invertebrates and clam mantles, and tends to dominate the tank; feed Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations with sponge matter, and mysis or frozen shrimp at least three times daily.
