The Deepwater Candy Basslet is an eye-catching addition to the home saltwater aquarium, displaying an elongated body of orange and lavender horizontal stripes accented with red lines; similar to the Swissguard and Swales Basslets but easily identified by its intense coloration. It is an excellent peaceful reef-dwelling fish, though it may threaten smaller ornamental crustaceans that can fit in its mouth; provide at least a 10 gallon tank for a single individual; as a carnivore, it thrives on meaty foods including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and quality frozen preparations.
