The Conspicuous Angelfish (Chaetodontoplus conspicillatus) is a medium-sized, extremely rare angelfish from deep waters around Lord Howe Island; juveniles are dull dark brown below the eye fading into a cream back, while adults become rusty brown with an almost orange head, black dorsal and anal fins with bright bluish-white edges, a yellow-based anal fin, white mouth and pelvic fins, and a distinctive electric blue ring around the eyes and gill covers. It is generally peaceful but not reef safe, nipping at ornamental sponges, LPS corals, tube worms, and clams, and in the wild its diet is heavily sponges and tunicates.
