The Chrysurus Angelfish, also called the Goldtail or Ear Spot Angelfish, is an uncommon aquarium member; it has a mottled-brown body with vertical white stripes, bright sapphire-blue stripes on the head, and a dull yellow tail rimmed in sapphire-blue, with the tail clear in juveniles until 3 to 4 inches. It requires a 220 gallon or larger aquarium with multiple hiding places and large amounts of live rock for grazing; it is not a good reef dweller, prone to nip at stony and soft corals and clam mantles, but may be kept with small-polyped stony corals and noxious soft corals; when stressed it makes an unusual clicking sound; feed Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items.
