The Cave Basslet is a deep water species found throughout the Caribbean; its brilliant red, yellow, and blue colorations make it a striking addition to any aquarium. Cave Basslets generally get along with larger fish but may become territorial with their own species; in the aquarium they appreciate lots of caves and rocks to hide amongst and, as deep-water dwellers, do better with slightly subdued lighting; as carnivores, they do well on meaty foods including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysis shrimp, and quality frozen preparations.
