The Blue Dot Jawfish, also known as the Bluespotted Jawfish, was first discovered in the Tropical Eastern Pacific in 1991 by Allen and Robertson; this lively fish has bright contrasting shades of yellows, oranges, and blues with iridescent, irregular-shaped blue spots decorating the entire length of the head and body. It needs an established 30 gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of live rock and at least a 3 inch layer of fine to moderately sized sand substrate to sift through and burrow in, with ample horizontal living space and a tight-fitting canopy to prevent jumping; it is rarely aggressive toward other fish but territorial toward its own kind unless a mated pair; feed marine fish, crustacean flesh, and mysid shrimp at least three times per day.
