The Blue Damselfish (Chrysiptera cyanea) is probably the best-selling marine fish in the United States; females are completely blue while males have an orange tail and are commonly called the Orangetail Blue Damselfish or Blue Devil Damselfish. Native to Indo-Pacific reefs, it defends a small territory and hides in a hole or crevice, darkening to almost black when threatened before returning to electric blue in seconds; somewhat aggressive but good for beginners in saltwater aquariums over 30 gallons and great for reef aquariums with invertebrates — provide multiple hiding places to break up territories and feed flaked and frozen foods plus herbivore preparations.
