The Bicolor Anthias forms massive schools among reefs; males have a more intense violet body with yellow running along the back through the upper caudal lobe and a purple-edged dorsal fin with elongated first ray, while females are lavender with a yellow back and caudal fin. One of the hardier Anthias, it does best with its own species in at least a 125 gallon aquarium, dwelling in the middle with several hiding places and kept away from aggressive fish; feed frozen mysis, enriched brine shrimp, and flake foods in small quantities throughout the day.
